A BRIEF HISTORY | |||
Origins | |||
The
specialist tunnelling business of PTL (c.e.) Limited began in 1971 as
a division of Stepney Contractors Limited, which had been granted a
licence to install the British patented MINI TUNNEL system of tunnelling.
As
divisional manager, David Peak was involved in a partial buy-out which
saw the creation of Stepney Tunnelling Limited.
Independence
In
1987, the buy-out was completed and Stepney sold its minority interest
in the company to David Peak and Ken Thurlow. Thus PTL (c.e.) LIMITED
now had its own identity.
The
Nineties
PTL's
reputation has grown over the years, with the completion of many varied
tunnelling contracts, involving a certain amount of design input. Our
portfolio includes the construction of a significant amount of tunnelling
using non-patented BOLTED and SMOOTHBORE systems, PIPEJACKING, and traditional
TIMBERED HEADING methods.
In
other fields, specialist work is carried out on SEWER RENOVATION, including
GRP, GRC, PCC relining, refurbishment, and PCC repair techniques, refurbishment
using guniting and pressure pointing, reconstruction of brickwork and
pressure grouting.
We
have carried out contracts overseas in Egypt, Italy, France, Germany,
Denmark and Ireland.
To
promote greater efficiency, we are a recognised partner with Birse plc
as a specialist subcontractor for tunnelling works.
The Future | |||
Our plans for the future include:
The introduction of a non-man entry small diameter tunnelling / boring technique.
The
development of an insitu reline technique for sewer refurbishment.
